Race History

The full-size Ford Capri RS2600 #54 was entered by Ford Deutschland for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1972. The car was driven by Gerry Birrell and Claude Bourgoignie and carried Shell sponsorship.

After qualifying 35th with a time of 4:28.9, the #54 Capri completed the endurance race and finished 10th overall. It also won the Special Touring 3.0 (TS 3.0) category, making it the highest-placed Capri in the race.

BRM's BRM188 faithfully reproduces this historic Group 2 endurance racer with its distinctive Ford blue and white Shell livery and detailed Capri competition equipment.

Technical Notes

The BRM188 uses the S-417 BRM BLUE 19,000 rpm motor with an S-420 12-tooth nylon pinion and S-419 33-tooth spur gear, producing the documented 12:33 transmission ratio.

The model-specific technical documentation identifies the Capri chassis components as S-407C and S-408C, with S-411K/S-412K axle holders, S-416A front axles and S-416KR rear axle. The front axle arrangement uses separate axle sections to provide the characteristic negative wheel camber.

BRM188 is supplied ready to run as an analogue 1/24 slot car and is compatible with suitable analogue slot racing systems.
