The BRM S-417 is BRM's BRM BLUE short-can racing motor, delivering 19,000 RPM and 160 g·cm of torque at 12V. It is a compact, responsive racing motor widely used in BRM competition cars and is supplied complete with its motor wires and 12-tooth nylon pinion.

The S-417 is suitable for both (1/24) and compatible (1/32) slot cars. As a short-can motor, compatibility ultimately depends on the motor pod and available chassis space rather than scale alone.

Specifications & Fitted Components

BRM S-420 12T Pinion

The included BRM S-420 is a 12-tooth nylon anglewinder pinion with a documented diameter of 6.8mm. It is the standard pinion paired with the S-417 in many BRM applications.

When paired with the BRM S-419 33T nylon anglewinder spur gear, the S-417 uses a 12:33 gear ratio, equivalent to 2.75:1.

(1/24) & (1/32) Compatibility

Despite its extensive use in BRM's (1/24) cars, the S-417 is also suitable for compatible (1/32) slot cars. The important consideration is the chassis and motor pod: the car must be designed to accept a short-can motor of this physical format.

This makes the S-417 a useful replacement or performance motor for a range of slot car applications where a compact short-can motor is required.
